tiffin middle school

I started to stay for two hours when I realized that if I did not I would not be able to meet my quota.

My first class, as usual, is the study hall/ library and my second is an English/reading class. The class read

the story about Scrooge and the ghost of Christmas past. They had parts to read and dissected the story

and parts. They talked about the symbols in the story and why Scrooge was the way he was and why along

with why the other characters were that way. I was also present during study hall, which was like it always

is. Some of the children go to the library or another room for reasons unknown to me and the rest quietly

work. I am so surprised at how well they behaved. Whenever I told people I wanted to teach middle

school, they would give me a pity look and say how crazy and unruly the students are at that age. I must

have a good class because they behave like angels. They speak with manners, listen and do not talk. It is a

study hall and they don’t talk! At my high school, we would not be able to shut up we talked so much. The

difference is astonishing. These kids must have been raised right. Even in the reading class, they behave with

manners to a T. They listen, participate and work hard to get good grades. Compared to my old school, this

is starkly different. It is interesting to see the differences between how I was taught and how these kids are

taught.
